Websites, Wednesdays, and Pole Bras, Oh My!

Ta-Da!

Isn’t it funny how something you could once have been so happy with, suddenly seems lame to you? That’s what happened to me a few weeks ago when I found myself staring at my website and thinking … hmmm.

As in, hmmm, when did it get so damn wordy? As in, hmmm, could anyone but me actually find something on this site anymore?

Which is when I reached out to fellow pole dancer and web designer extraordinaire, Diane Whiddon, and begged her to revamp my site.

She did – and I LOVE IT.

It has more zing, it’s easier to get around, and my text-based mind was brought under control with the realization that images are darn purty and really can say a thousand words.

Take a peek around the new layout and let me know what you think. And while you’re at it, help a girl out and forward the link to your friends. Spread the love! Heck, spread the like … which is to say, Like me on Facebook! :)

Pole Bra and New Short Coming Soon

Did you know I’ve been hard at work coming up with new designs for PoleSkivvies? I am in the last stages of fit testing a new short and … super exciting … the very first sports bra designed specifically for pole dancers!!

If you’ve tried my shorts, you know what a freak I am for good fit. Well, that’s why these two items aren’t yet available – I am tweaking them so they’ll fit just right. The shorts will be a flirtier cut than the original, but will still have that essential PoleSkivvies fit you’ve come to trust. Which means no gapping in the crotch, no camel toe, and no muffin top!

The pole bra is being designed with special attention to where the pole comes in contact with the body, how the breasts move during various pole moves and positions, and the ever-necessary comfort, without which a bra can’t do anybody any good.

I am hoping to have both available by the holidays, but I’ll keep you posted. I’m a stickler for fit, so if it’s not ready until January, you’ll know it’s going to be worth the wait!

What ever happened to all your stretching?

Good question! What happened was, an old hip injury acted up and my stretching had to come to an abrupt stop. Well, I’ve been going to a physical therapist the last couple of months and I’ve learned a few things.

First, my problem is … I’m short.

Seriously, that’s the cause of the hip pain. Which is not in my hip flexors or my hamstrings, but is, in fact, in my ischial tuberosities (which has now become my favorite word … tuberosities!).

Which is why I now have pedal extenders in my Civic. And three pillows.

And it’s why I am writing this at my brand-new child’s activity table-cum-desk (think what you did art projects on in elementary school), while sitting in my brand-new child’s desk chair. The magic number is 23″ – the height I need my desk top to be, which is about four inches shorter than any other table or desk I’ve been using.

Still, no stretching yet. But the pain is mostly gone, and I do these crazy exercises in which I crank on my hamstrings and blow into a balloon. But they help, so who am I to say they look wacko. (They look wacko … as do I, when I do them.)

My physical therapist has promised me, though, that I will be able to begin stretching again one day, but not yet. We’re still waiting for my tuberosities to chill out. But when I am ready, I will let you all know. Still, it feels as if I’ve been stretching, since I can move so much more freely than I had been able to, and that is a huge relief.

Wednesday Changes

For all of 2010, I have been struggling with my desire to post every other Wednesday. I started with video tutorials. I moved on to the stretching series, then to pole goals, and, most recently, to performance critiques of dance videos.

While I love posting on all of these things, the fact is, I do not enjoy the additional two posts a month. I know, what’s two posts? But please keep in mind that I write a veritable pole dance magazine here every month, all while doing the main part of PoleSkivvies, which is manufacturing and selling pole clothes.

So, something had to give, and the Wednesday posts were at the top of the list. Which is why, as of this week, there won’t be one; the Wednesday posts will be incorporated into the regular Monday/Thursday line-up – though I do have a few ideas of what else I could do with the Wednesday slot. So you may hear more from me on this. You never know. :) In the meantime, take this poll and let me know your feelings about the change:

Request for Interviews

It’s been awhile since I put the word out, but I am ALWAYS interested in new people to interview. So, if you pole dance, if you make things for pole dancers, if you teach pole dance, if you fit in any way into this lovely and wonderful pole community, contact me for an interview! EVERYBODY in pole is interesting; that’s just a fact – so share your story with us and let us tell you how wonderful you are!
